The bio-compatibility of gold has meant that it has been used in medicine for centuries, particularly in dentistry. However in more recent years it has also found as a role in the treatment of disease. Through use of nano-technology gold is now being used in treatment of arthritis and cancer as well as malaria, HIV/AIDS and cancer diagnostics.

Silver

Silver has long been revered by the medical community. Hippocrates, “the father of medicine,” knew of its healing and anti-disease properties. In World War I, before the invention of antibiotics, it was an important weapon against disease on the battlefield. It is also added to bandages and wound-dressings, catheters and other medical instruments and is a key part of the technology behind X-rays.
